Concert Photos: Rockstar Uproar 2011

Rockstar Uproar was part of an early birthday present to self, and I had been looking forward to it for a couple months - and the concert definitely did not disappoint! Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

The day started off with the battle of the bands winner, Fire!Fire! - a rock band from Charlotte, NC. I was quite impressed by them, though unfortunately did not have a chance to grab a CD. I'm hoping that since they are from NC, they will have some shows nearby in the near future.

Rock band, Hell or Highwater came next. Nothing bad to say about them either.

Black Tide took the stage next. I have to say I was surprised (in a good way) by how young they were - listening to their CD, I had gotten the impression that they were at least slightly older.

I ended up buying Black Tide's CD a little later in the day, and I have enjoyed listening to it a couple times since then.

After Black Tide's set was the band that I was dying (no pun intended) to see - Art of Dying. I discovered their debut CD earlier this year and found myself quickly obsessed with it, so there was no way I was missing this band when they were anywhere within a 350 mile radius of me (no that is not an exaggeration!).

Did I mention that Art of Dying's bassist, Cale Gontier, is cousins with Three Days Grace vocalist, Adam Gontier? And that Art of Dying has a song featuring Adam called 'Raining'? True story, and the song is fantastic.

Sevendust was the last rock band to play on the smaller stage. They were a very high energy band, great stage performance.

After Sevendust, it was time for self intermission, which included obtaining an expensive bottle of water and going to meet Art of Dying. I know I'm supposed to be a professional photographer and all, but I think I'm still entitled to be a fan, and I was not missing out on that opportunity. Which unfortunately led to me missing out on better photos of Escape the Fate.

None the less, I still had a handful of decent Escape the Fate photos.

Bullet for My Valentine took the stage after Escape the Fate, and wow! The perfect lighting combined with their rockin' head banging... I am thrilled with the way my photography from their set turned out.

Seether was up next, and being the third time I've seen them in concert, I knew they would sound good.

And I'm sure nobody would be surprised if I told them what an awesome concert Three Days Grace puts on! Even after seeing them five times, they always throw in something unexpected - and this time, it was a rock cover of a compilation of Eminem songs. Nice.

Last, but certainly not least, was Avenged Sevenfold. They played at Carolina Rebellion earlier this year, however thanks to a killer headache, I didn't get to stay and watch them. This time, however, I was prepared and watching them no matter how I felt. And if I had known about all the pyro and fireworks back in May, I probably would have stayed and sucked up my headache just for that.

Avenged Sevenfold lit up the stage so much that I had to drop my camera's ISO settings for my photography... this was an official first for me at a concert (usually I have trouble getting it high enough!).

Rockstar Uproar was definitely an awesome show, and I plan to go back next year. Crossing my fingers they add a North Carolina date next time, though!
